ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING CANDIDACY FOR WV STATE AUDITOR

I am excited to announce my candidacy for WV State Auditor in the 2024 election!

I was flattered and humbled to have been asked by friends and acquaintances from across the state of West Virginia to consider running for Auditor.

After careful consideration and being in constant prayer along with the support and encouragement of family, friends, advisors, and my campaign team I decided to file precandidacy paperwork to run for State Auditor. I realized that running for Auditor is a natural progression for a county commissioner who is involved in the budget process at the local level and understands the job of the auditor.

As a fiscal conservative, I have ensured the government serves the people, operates within its means, and is held accountable. My voting record proves that I have been a staunch advocate for the people, a defender, and guardian of taxpayer funds, and support the elimination of wasteful spending.

Before being elected to the Jefferson County Commission I was a small business owner, Human Resources professional, and Project and Operations Management Professional. I have a bachelor’s degree in business administration and have served as an adjunct professor at Shepherd University and Blue Ridge CTC. I volunteer for many organizations including the Eastern Panhandle Business Association and the Blue Ridge Christian Homeschool Co-Op. All of this has equipped me to serve in the capacity of State Auditor.

I helped to spearhead the adoption of WVcheckbook/Project Mountaineer in Jefferson County because I believe everyone deserves a transparent government. While I believe that WVCheckbook is a great tool, I also believe there is always room for improvement. I intend to work with Opengov to enhance the program and make navigating and reviewing the information easier for the general public.

I also plan to open WVcheckbook so that any organization that receives taxpayer funds can take advantage of the service. As I have said before, transparency is important to me, and I will work to encourage organizations to use the service so that taxpayers who help fund them can fully track their revenues and expenses.

I commit to continuing to fight fraud and will look for new and innovative ways to improve the resources available to highlight fraud and eliminate abuse.

Serving as State Auditor requires someone who is fiscally responsible, accountable, and transparent with taxpayers’ money. As someone who was a single parent, I know firsthand what it is like to use financial resources efficiently to meet obligations. I have the fortitude to enforce rules, manage limited resources, and balance budgets. WV deserves and needs a leader who understands the concerns of its citizens; an auditor with experience that can hit the ground running on day one.

As a commissioner, I have never lost sight of who I represent and work for. I promise you I will carry that same principle into the auditor’s office with me: the people come first.

I was elected in 2020 by the residents of Jefferson County to the commission and began serving on January 1, 2021. I am committed to and will continue to serve and fulfill my duties as a county commissioner while campaigning for State Auditor.

I am asking the residents of West Virginia to hire me to be their advocate for open government and to guard their tax dollars. I invite all of you to join me on this journey to become the next WV State Auditor.

Let’s make WV Great! Jackson for State Auditor, 2024.
